Dravida has to be the best South Indian restaurant in the city by far. There is just nothing to compare it with in the city. The restaurant serves cuisines from all the four Southern states – Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Kannada and Andhra Pradesh. The sheer variety, the quality and the taste of each dish here, is just amazing. The place does not seem impressive when you enter since the restaurant is like a long train but you will also see all the effort taken to make it look opulent. They use wine glasses and have a golden base plate on each setting with gold-plated cutlery and beautifully folded serviettes held together by a silver ring embedded with a large blue crystal. The waiters are all dressed in white dhotis and kurtas and the South Indian music adds to the ambience. But it is the food here that is king here. Start with a soup, for vegetarian the choice is limited but you should go for Kudotho Saru, a mild soup of vegetables, coconut and jaggery. Non-vegetarians have more choice. They could opt for the ‘Crab Soup’ – Nandu Rasam or Markandam Soup, a mutton rib bone soup. A delicious vegetarian starter one should have is ‘Kuzhi Paniyaram’, it is a rice batter dumpling eaten along with various chutneys. Non-vegetarians would love the ‘Mutton Pepper Fry’, it melts in your mouth. The main course has lots of variety. Try ‘Nadan Kozhi Curry’, a chicken preparation along with many layered Malabar Paratha. You can also try ‘Chicken Xacuti’, a popular Goan dish or the very popular ‘Chicken Chettinadu’. But if you are a seafood lover, the choice is quite a lot. If you are a lobster person, try ‘Lobster Ajadina’ or ‘Malabar Konju’. There is also ‘Malabar Fried Prawns’ or ‘Nandu Pattu’, a crab meat preparation.
